Thank you to everyone who contributed to the very successful Race Night.   St Michael's Fish 'n' chips were delicious and a great time was had by all.  Once again congratulations to the organisers for putting on a great evening with a true community spirit.

Brownie's 100th Birthday Celebration

Brownies  100th Birthday Service

What a delight it was yesterday to welcome the Brownie Guides to celebrate 100 years of Brownies.

They gave us a very informative presentation, chose the hymns, wrote and said the prayers and also told us why they  like Brownies?

We all joined in some fun activities and the morning was rounded off nicely with a Brownie Birthday cake and coffee, tea and squash.  THANK YOU BROWNIES AND BROWN OWL.

Pancake Party

We all enjoyed the Pancake Party held in the church on Shrove Tuesday.     Many people came and ate their fill of delicious pancakes cooked by David, Cynthia, Jane, Philip and Judy.   The ingredients were generously donated by John.    Once again we enjoyed the company of many adults and children making this a great community celebration.

Wittersham welcomed Archbishop Justin Welby

It was a real delight, pleasure and privilege to welcome Archbishop Justin Welby to our morning service on February 23rd.

We welcomed friends from some of the other churches in our Benefice and everyone enjoyed his visit and the opportunity he gave for all to speak
with him personally before and after the service.

His words of wisdom and encouragement in his sermon were very well received by all.

The choir sang the beautiful Anthem "Come Holy Ghost" (Attwood) and we all sang some rousing hymns.

Winston's Wish Big Breakfast

What a wonderful time we had on Saturday February 15th when the Church hosted THE BIG
BREAKFAST in the Village Hall in aid of Winston's Wish Charity.    Many thanks to all who helped especially Richard who cooked over 90 Full English Breakfasts!!  We are very grateful to Chaney's Bakery for donating the bread and Korkers for the sausages.     Many people contributed in so many ways: serving, cooking, washing up, manning the raffle stall, cake stall, entry and the book stall.

Christmas in Wittersham 2014

Alan and Judy would like to thank everyone for their kind wishes over Christmas, for the many
cards and gifts we received, thank you all.   We wish all our readers a Happy New Year for 2014.
Christmas was a joy.  It started with the Community Christmas Tree Festival and as we travelled
through the story of our Saviour's birth so we welcomed many regulars and visitors to our church services.

Holy Week and Easter Services

What a great joy it has been to celebrate Holy Week and Easter at Wittersham.
The Maundy Thursday Eucharist embraced the theme of servanthood.
During the activity hour on Good Friday the children made the Easter Garden and a cross covered in black, already to be transformed by them on Easter Day with flowers.
The words and music on Good Friday were magnificent and really made this a truly contemplatative service.
Thank you to the choir and the readers.
The quiet of the vigil on Saturday night led us into our wonderful Easter celebrations on Sunday.
